Pre Service Teacher at Thames High School, Thames, Waikato
JULY 2025 – SEPTEMBER 2025
Teaching Areas:
Cross-curricular project: I managed a collaborative framework through the EOTC program to enter the Vista Foundation 48Hours Filming Competition. As the team leader, I coordinated a group of senior students to create a media production that linked Social Studies, Drama, Music, Photography and Technology. I oversaw all phases of the project, from pre-production planning, securing permits and liaising with school departments, management and sponsors, to scriptwriting, production, and post-production editing. The project was completed over a two-week period, including one full weekend.
Social Studies Year 9: I completed a unit on Polynesian culture in New Zealand, studying topics such as the Dawn Raids, the Polynesian Panthers, and the Apology. The curriculum explored concepts of multiculturalism, racism, and civil rights from a human geography perspective.
Te Reo Māori Year 9: I contributed to the development of a co-curricular project for the KiwisSA Expo 2025 www.kiwisaexpo.com. The project focused on Māori participation during the Boer War, creating a link with the Year 9 Social Studies curriculum (History and Geography) and the Gate Away program. I also participated in a Te Whakaipurangi Rauemi unit (Te Reo grammar).
English year 9: I taught a Unit on fiction film scriptwriting towards an assessment on creative writing.
Gateway program year 12-13: I worked with students in the Social and Community Services and Creative Industries sectors. My role was to help them become "job ready" through developing targeted CVs and preparing for interviews. I also led student participating in the Marketing division for the KiwisSA Expo 2025 ( co-curricular project with te Reo and Social Studies)
